Host / Hostess

Location: Route 19 Brewing, 16030 Central Avenue, Inverness Nova Scotia
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Casual
Starting: Spring 2023

We are seeking host/hostess' to join our brew crew!  The ideal candidate will provide our guests with timely, personalized and friendly service while following the policies and procedures of the company to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
  • Help create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and other associates
  • Exhibit exceptional communications skills
  • Get along well with others, demonstrate flexibility and patience; possess an interest in people
  • Supervise the activities of food-service wait staff in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
  • Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room; ensures side work and station setup is properly completed
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency
  • Assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
  • Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions

EXPERIENCE & KEY ATTRIBUTES

· Team player with excellent time management skills (organization, goal setting, communication, planning and stress management).

· Ensure that overall cleanliness and maintenance of restaurant exceeds expectations.

· High level of self-confidence and pride in style and personal appearance.

· Be enthusiastic, outgoing, positive and upbeat.

· Advanced product knowledge of Route 19 craft beverages.

· Remains calm under pressure.

· Excellent verbal communication.

· Ability to organize and plan.

· Desire to be part of a team and contribute as such.

· Sincere desire to please others and do a great job.

· Product knowledge of all food, wines, liquors, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous experience in service industry an asset

· Knowledge of Point of Sale System an asset

· Knowledge of Reservation Systems an asset

· A Degree or Diploma in Hotel/Hospitality or Tourism an asset

· Ability to spend long hours walking and standing

    Schedule:

    • 10 hour shift
    • 12 hour shift
    • 8 hour shift
    • Monday to Friday
    • Weekends
